If you’re lucky enough to stay at the Hotel du Cadran, you’ll have the opportunity to discover all the major monuments and sites of Paris’s 7th arrondissement. Take the time to visit Les Invalides, a place steeped in history. Discover our route from the Hôtel du Cadran to Les Invalides.   Our green route to Les Invalides Let’s start our stroll from the Hôtel du Cadran, 10 rue du Champs-de-Mars, and go to 80-82 avenue de Breteuil. Let’s start at the end of avenue de Breteuil Our journey begins at 88 avenue de Breteuil, in the 7th arrondissement. From here, a long promenade leads to the Hôtel National des Invalides. Lined with plane trees, the route is dotted with huge green lawns and children’s play areas. But there are also two pretty pools with water jets, and a monument to Louis Pasteur, created by sculptor Alexandre Falguière in the late 19th century. It stands on the site of the former Grenelle artesian well. Moving on to the Jacques Chaban-Delmas esplanade Continuing your stroll along avenue Breteuil, you’ll pass, without even realizing it, from the 7th to the 15th arrondissement of Paris. As you stroll along, you’ll come to the esplanade Jacques Chaban-Delmas, in the middle of the Place de Breteuil, on the border of Place El Salvador and Avenue de Breteuil. The esplanade is a vast green space in the heart of Paris, ideal for relaxing and strolling. Inaugurated in honor of French politician Jacques Chaban-Delmas, the esplanade offers a breathtaking view of the Dôme des Invalides. Last but not least, the Hôtel National des Invalides At the end of Avenue de Breteuil, back in the 7th arrondissement, we finally come to the Hôtel des Invalides, with its esplanade, dome and museums. Spend a few hours indulging your curiosity and learning a little more about the history of Paris. History of the Hôtel des Invalides The Hôtel national des Invalides was built at the end of the 17th century, on the initiative of King Louis XIV. The aim was to provide a home for invalid soldiers who had fought for France. Built between 1671 and 1676, it is now one of the historic monuments of the Parisian landscape. Today, the Hôtel des Invalides is assigned to the Ministry of Defense, but it also houses a number of other organizations, and retains its original vocation as a hospital-hospice for war invalids. The Hôtel des Invalides comprises a hospital, two churches, the Musée de l’Armée, the Musée de l’Ordre de la Libération and the Musée des Plans-Reliefs. One of the two churches is particularly distinctive for its gilded dome, beneath which the tomb of Napoleon I is displayed. The esplanade des Invalides is also a popular spot with Parisians and tourists alike, offering a vast green space stretching right down to the banks of the Seine. The Invalides dome At 107 meters high, atop the Chapelle Royale des Invalides, the Dôme des Invalides was for many years the tallest building in Paris, until the construction of the Eiffel Tower. A testament to the Sun King’s love of gold, the Dome church today houses the tomb of Napoleon I, as well as other great warriors who have left their mark on French history, including Vauban, Napoleon II (known as l’Aiglon), Joseph and Jérôme Bonaparte, and Marshals Lyautey and Foch. The Army Museum The Musée de l’Armée traces the history of the Hôtel des Invalides, which at times housed up to 6,000 military veterans. Considered the world’s largest museum of military art and history, it contains over 500,000 military objects, providing an insight into military history from the Middle Ages to the present day. This fun, interactive museum also features special areas dedicated to the two world wars, as well as numerous temporary events. The Museum of the Order of the Liberation Opposite the Musée de l’Armée, the Musée de l’Ordre de la Libération is dedicated to a smaller part of French history, covering the Free French period from 1940 to 1945. It features portraits of the Compagnons de la Libération. As a reminder, the Ordre de la Libération was founded by General de Gaulle to honor those who had made a particular contribution to the liberation of France. This memorial museum retraces the career of the Combatants, whether through the Free French Forces, deportation or the French Resistance. Museum of Relief Maps On the top floor of the Hôtel national des Invalides, the Musée des Plans-Reliefs houses around a hundred historic models of fortified towns and forts. Here, you can discover France’s ancient frontiers, as well as over 200 years of military siege history, through strategically-oriented models. While the military interest is important, the museum also reveals the power of the kingdom and the monarchy. Saint-Louis des Invalides cathedral The Cathedral Saint-Louis, at the heart of the monument, testifies to the importance of faith to Louis XIV. Dedicated to Saint Louis (King Louis IX), this 1679 religious edifice includes both the Eglise des Soldats and the Eglise du Dôme. It houses the military pantheon, as well as the vicariate to the French armies. Today, numerous commemorative masses are celebrated here, including the anniversary mass of Napoleon I’s death and the anniversary mass of the Hôtel’s foundation.   The Hôtel du Cadran, near the Invalides Less than 15 minutes’ walk from the Esplanade des Invalides, the Hotel du Cadran is the ideal tourist residence for discovering this prestigious monument, as well as all the other historical and cultural sites in Paris’s 7th arrondissement. Visit the Eiffel Tower with the return of sunny days!

The Eiffel Tower remains a must-see tourist site in Paris. But to take full advantage of the panorama that the Iron Lady can offer you, it is better to begin its ascent in good weather. And that’s good, the beautiful days are finally coming back! Take advantage of the return of the sun to visit the Eiffel Tower .   The history of the Eiffel Tower Did you know that the Eiffel Tower was initially only an ephemeral monument, intended to be dismantled a few years after its construction? This is indeed what was planned when drawing up his plans, on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1889 . To mark the centenary of the French Revolution, the Official Journal is organizing a major competition to build a huge tower on the Champ-de-Mars, and it is the engineer Gustave Eiffel who wins, with his Eiffel Tower project. The construction of the Iron Lady The construction of the Eiffel Tower began on January 26, 1889, and it was only 2 years, 2 months and 5 days later that the site ended, making this work a real technical feat. The building then takes the form of an immense tower, composed of 4 beams separated at the base, then meeting at the top. High of more than 300 meters , this new construction connects each of its pylons by metal beams, and fortifies the whole by different floors. And to make the monument appreciable to tourists, large glazed rooms and a bubble-shaped top are installed there. Everything will finally be simplified, to obtain the tower that we know today. In total, more than 18,000 parts and 2,500,000 rivets were needed, all being manufactured in a factory in Levallois-Perret. More than 300 workers will be requisitioned to build this emblematic tower . The Eiffel Tower at the heart of the debates Even before the completion of the construction site, the Iron Lady is not unanimous, and many criticize it for being unsightly. The tower was also destined to be dismantled, 20 years after the Universal Exhibition. But its immediate success calls into question the projects, because more than 2 million visits are recorded just over the duration of the Universal Exhibition. The dismantling is then quickly forgotten, and since then, the Eiffel Tower has never ceased to seduce, becoming the emblematic historical monument of Paris and France.   Visiting the Eiffel Tower: information Today, the Eiffel Tower is the most visited paid monument in France and in the world , with more than 6 million visitors each year. Your romantic weekend in Paris near Eiffel tower

If Paris is considered one of the most romantic cities in the world, it’s because it’s the perfect setting for a romantic stroll. Between historical monuments with dazzling architecture, romantic dinners at the most beautiful restaurants, and walks hand in hand along the Seine, Paris is the ideal destination for a romantic weekend.   Visit Montmartre with your other half A romantic weekend in Paris will never be truly successful if you don’t plan to come to Montmartre. This charming district of the 18th arrondissement is a must-see. Lovers love to stroll through the cobbled streets of this village-like corner of Paris and soak up the bohemian atmosphere. The walk will guide you peacefully to the Sacré-Coeur basilica, which you can also reach with the little train of Montmartre, from where you will enjoy a magnificent view of the roofs of Paris. At random, you will discover the Place des Abbesses and its Wall of “I love you”, so symbolic and so romantic. Not far from there, the famous Place du Tertre plunges you into a more artistic atmosphere, where the portrait artists will allow you to bring back a small souvenir of your romantic escapade. The Museum of Romantic Life, installed in the former home of the painter Ary Scheffer, keeps the magic of the place alive, while the restaurant Mère Catherine ensures a romantic evening with a view of Paris. If you are looking for a more typical address of the old Montmartre, it is at La Bonne Franquette that you will have to reserve a table.   A romantic walk in the Marais In the 4th arrondissement, the Marais district is also one of the must-see places to visit with your partner. Mostly known for its trendy and festive side, this historical Parisian district is also full of charm. Along the narrow streets, the old monuments and the private mansions make the beauty of the place. You will then have the opportunity to cross and visit sites more romantic than the others: the House of Victor Hugo, the place of Vosges... When it comes to romantic restaurants, the Marais district is not short of good addresses. You can impress your loved one at the starred gastronomic restaurant Qui plume la lune, unless you prefer the more relaxed and cosy atmosphere of the Parisian bistro Café Charlot.   Take a romantic stroll through the covered passages of Paris Did you know that in the 19th century, the city of Paris had more than 70 covered passages? These small galleries, intended to protect the well-to-do Parisians from the world and the bad weather, are only 21 today, but one always finds there a secret and charming atmosphere, favourable with the romantic stroll. In the 2nd arrondissement, the covered passages take the form of shopping alleys elegantly covered with glass. You will be able to walk there hand in hand, and to impregnate you of this typical atmosphere of the Belle Époque. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, these small passages are ideal for strolling and the gourmet addresses are always an opportunity to experience a moment of relaxation and pleasure. Among the covered passages, we note the Galerie Vivienne and the passage des Panoramas. If Paris 2 shelters many of them, one also finds many covered passages in the 9th district.   Walk the paths of the Champ-de-Mars park At the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the Champ-de-Mars park covers nearly 25 hectares and invites you to relax in a magical setting. Under the benevolent eye of the Iron Lady, the largest green space in Paris is composed of immense lawns interspersed with perpendicular paths. A real invitation to relax and stroll. Then, the winding paths lead you into the nooks and crannies of the park, with the French garden on one side and the English garden on the other. The whole is laid out on a green space planted with trees, where birds, ducks and swans flourish at our side without even seeming to notice us. As you walk through the park, you will come across various bronze statues of the greatest names in French history, including the bust of Gustave Eiffel, the famous engineer who created the Eiffel Tower. It is also an opportunity to discover the history of the park, which opened in 1780, after having seen a succession of vegetable gardens, vineyards, and a maneuvering field for the French army. Open 7 days a week, day and night, the park is ideal for evening strolls in love, and perhaps you will have the chance to cross paths with an owl.   Climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower What could be more romantic than to climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower, to admire the view of Paris, and look together in the same direction? Then take one of the 4 elevators to stop at the different floors, or choose to live the unique experience of climbing the tower by the stairs. On the first floor, the glass floor offers an incredible sensation, while on the second floor, the view of Paris begins to emerge. At the top, the noise of the city fades away, and you are cut off from the world, living a unique adventure with your loved one. And for a romantic dinner with a panoramic view of Paris, you can choose between the Madame Brasserie, on the first floor, or the gastronomic restaurant Jules Verne, on the second floor.   Other romantic walks in Paris Of course, there is no lack of ideas for romantic walks in Paris, and if you are lucky enough to be able to enjoy the beauties of the capital for a longer period of time, several romantic sites will seduce you: the Pont des Arts, also called the lovers’ bridge, the Latin Quarter, the Ile de la Cité, the Canal Saint-Martin, the Luxembourg Gardens… The romantic atmosphere is everywhere in Paris, and assures you to live an unforgettable weekend with your loved one.   The Hotel du Cadran, a stone’s throw from the romantic places of Paris To prolong the pleasure of a romantic trip in the heart of the capital, the 4-star Hotel du Cadran welcomes you in a modern and cosy setting.
